Purity Challenge Day 4
Hello ladies! So yesterday we discussed setting boundaries while we are dating. Today's topic will be about the difference between lust and love. Now a lot of ladies get lust and love confused. What is lust exactly? Lust is defined as a strong desire for sexual gratification. What is love? Love is defined as a passionate affection for another person. I can see why some people might get the two confused but now lets look at the biblical aspect of these words. In 1 John 2:16, it is stated that the desires of our flesh and desires of our eyes is not from God but from the world. This is referring to the act of lusting after someone is of the world. It's okay to think someone is attractive but its NOT okay to think of acting on our sexual desires. We need to submit to God and not our flesh! A man who is lusting after you, just wants your body. Your boyfriend might tell you he loves you but that's just a trick to get you in bed. A real Christian man will not want you for just your body. Next, let's look at what the Bible says about love. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, the bible states, " Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away." Love in a Christian way is supposed to be uplifting, patient, and of God. Loving someone means you put his or her desires in front of you. A man is supposed to respect you and put his desires on the sidelines. Remember, this the next time you are with your man. Even if you have broken up with your boyfriend, think back to see if he loved you or lusted you. Let us pray. Dear God, thank you for another day. Thank you for loving us even when we make mistakes. Thank you for set backs and breakdowns because we know you are setting us up for breakthroughs. Lord, help us to learn the difference between lust and love. We only want to glorify you! Help us to tell our flesh to be quiet! Help us to learn sex is for marriage! In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
